About the KRP Block.
The unique design of this inline engine was developed by Kansas Racing Products (KRP) for after-market, high-performance applications. The original block design is based on the GM “Iron Duke” that later evolved into the Pontiac “Super Duty” racing block.
Each version of this block is available with a Ford Motorsports SVO part number or a GM Performance part number to satisfy the requirements of race sanctioning bodies that require a “production-based” engine.
This block is a direct replacement for the Pontiac “Super Duty” block. It has the same bolt pattern and accepts all of the internal and external component parts.
The Ford SVO version can be ordered to accept all of the Pontiac component parts, as well as the component parts from the Fontana 4-cylinder aluminum engine, including front cover, water ump, crankshaft, cam, distributor, rods and dry-sump oil system. The Ford block can also accept popular brands of small block V8 cylinder heads, including Yates Sprint Cup style head, Ford SVO, Dart, Edelbrock, Brodix, TFS, Air Flow Research and Fontana 8-port Chevy II.
It is possible to run the Pontiac-style block with the high-performance Sprint Cup style Ford cylinder head by using a KRP intake manifold developed for Ford cylinder heads. the same engine block accepts either the Fontana / Ford style water pump or the Pontiac external water pump. The racer can utilize either the Pontiac internal oil pump, external oil pump, or a dry-sump system. the race has a choice of using Pontiac or Ford motor mounts. Multiple bell housing patterns are also available.
The racer can order a crankshaft drilled with the Pontiac pattern or small block Chevrolet pattern to accept either flywheel. It is also possible to put the starter on either side of the engine block to accommodate the request of the racer.
